Recently TMG hosted Gary Smith, 2012 Memphis Bar Association President and attorney with Apperson Crump, as he kicked off MBA’s new community outreach program to educate the public on the importance of a fair and impartial justice system and the rule of law. Mr. Smith’s presentation, “Law Rules: The Importance of the American Legal System”, was video taped for MBA members to use as a training tool as they go into the community and make similar presentations to schools, civic and church groups, and business/professional organizations.
The material will be revised so that each audience will hear a presentation geared specifically to their age group and stage of life, whether high school students or business professionals. “I believe that our message will be well received even as we recognize that the general publics’ attitude toward the judicial branch of government is founded largely by lack of exposure to it,” Smith said. “That lack of exposure leads to lack of understanding and that is a gap that we can and should eradicate.”
With a goal of 200 speaking engagements in 2012, the MBA is currently seeking volunteers to lead the discussions as well as venues and groups for “Law Rules” speakers to address. The Marston Group is proud to have played a part in introducing this informative effort to our staff as part of our firm’s Speaker Series.
If you would like to volunteer or schedule a speaker for your group or organization, please contact MBA Executive Director Anne Fritz at firstname.lastname@example.org or 901.527.3573
