Marston Group Proud to Be Involved in James Lee House Project

July 2nd, 2013

A ground breaking ceremony set in motion plans by Jose Velázquez and J. W. Gibson to turn the 165 year old James Lee House at 690 Adams into a luxury bed and breakfast.

The home’s owners along with city leaders, including Mayor A. C. Wharton, Bob Loeb, Scott Fleming, Will Chase, Marston’s Jimmy Dickey, and others, turned out in support of this community project which benefits our city’s downtown historic Victorian Village area.

Dickey recognizes the value this makeover has for the city and comments, “You know this is important to the city by the size of the crowd attending today’s event. This is definitely a community project that we will continue to be involved with.”

Velázquez sent contributors a note of thanks afterward saying, “We appreciate each one of you for your unique gifts and significant contributions to this project and look forward to our ongoing partnership on behalf of our beloved Memphis.”

Velázquez and his wife bought the home from this city for just $1, with a commitment that the couple give the 8,100-square-foot home a full makeover. The James Lee House Bed & Breakfast anticipates opening by the end of 2013.
