Changes to Tax Deadlines
We continue to closely monitor events surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. On March 17, the Treasury Department announced an extension of time, until July 15, 2020, for individual and corporate taxpayers to pay 2019 federal income taxes (see our email update of March 18, 2020). This additional period to pay also applies to first quarter 2020 federal estimated income tax payments, which are also generally due on April 15.
Today, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced that the federal income tax filing deadline has now also been extended to July 15, 2020. All individual and corporate taxpayers will have an additional three-month period of time to file their returns and make payments for the 2019 tax year, without incurring any interest or penalties. This action is part of the government’s efforts to minimize economic disruption as it combats the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
Changes to Office Hours for Our Firm
In our effort to protect the health and safety of both our team and our clients, our employees will be working remotely until further notice. We will have limited essential personnel in the office each weekday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM only. If you need to drop off tax information, documents, or any other item, we ask that you arrive during that time frame only to drop off your information. Additionally, within the next few days, we will have a drop box located immediately outside our office suite. You are welcome to utilize this box to drop off your items (again, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, please). Should you need to pick up any items, please call us at (901) 761-3003 during the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and make an appointment for a specific time to pick up your items.
