IRS Revises Interest Due Notices Mailed During First Two Weeks in July 2013

The Internal Revenue Service reported Friday that it miscalculated the interest due on notices where the IRS believes that certain items of income in its databases do not match the income reported on tax returns filed. These notices were mailed during the weeks of July 1 and July 8, and as a result of the miscalculation, the interest figures were lower than they should be. The mistake has been corrected and those who received the mailed notices should receive a special mailing later this month.
