Generally, the IRS requires brokerage firms (payers) to issue consolidated 1099 tax statements by February 15. This year, some brokerage firms may encounter delays in issuing 2015 Forms 1099 to their investment clients. These forms may include Forms 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-OID, and 1099-B. In some instances, investment clients may not receive their Forms 1099 until closer to March 15. They may also receive corrected versions of Form 1099 subsequent to receiving the original forms.
If you have not received your Forms 1099 from your brokerage firm by February 22, or if you have already been notified by your brokerage firm that your 1099s will be delayed this year, please submit all other available tax information to us as early as possible, so that we can begin preparation of your tax returns. Doing so will help prevent additional delays in receiving your completed tax return, by allowing us to simply add the late tax information to your tax return as soon as the final or corrected documents become available.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or if you need additional information. We thank you for the opportunity to be of service to you.
