Tax Senior Associate

Position Summary

The Tax Senior Associate position is responsible for preparing more complex business and individual tax returns, reviewing business and individual tax returns, performing more complex tax research and consulting projects, making recommendations to engagement leaders, delegating work to staff associates and supervising projects, and continuing to develop and strengthen working relationships with the firm's clients.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing more complex tax returns for businesses and individuals
  • Reviewing basic and intermediate tax returns for businesses and individuals
  • Helping train tax staff associates and assisting managers in staff development
  • Researching more complex tax matters and preparing tax projections
  • Assisting managers with responses to inquiries by the IRS or state taxing authorities
  • Meeting with clients, maintaining positive working relationships with clients, and identifying opportunities for additional services
  • Fostering an environment of teamwork and collaboration
  • Anticipating issues and potential problems; updating senior leaders on engagement status
  • Continuing to strengthen technical skills and applying those skills to client engagements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's preferred)
  • CPA certification or significant progress toward certification
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience in a tax environment
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong time management and work management skills
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with coworkers, managers, and clients
  • Professional demeanor toward duties and responsibilities, including independence, professional ethics, communication with managers, and the exercise of professional judgment
  • Strong skills in proactive problem solving
